AAAI/ISMA's
certification system is based on a university model where you pre-study the written
material and then attend an educational certification class. At the certification
workshop you have an AAAI/ISMA faculty trainer who has a Master's Degree, Ph.D.
or MD as you would at a university. At the certification workshop you can ask
questions to clarify the material that you pre-studied. You are able to see slide
presentations of the anatomy and physiology and you participate in a technique
component where you learn the movement skills that apply to your certification
choice. The exam is both theoretical and practical. This assures that you know
the anatomy and physiology and also can perform the skills that correspond to
your certification. If you don't pass the exam the first time you can retake it
for one year with a $20.00 re-test fee. We stand behind our ability to provide
you with a thorough fitness education. The certification is valid for two years.
During those two years you need to earn 8 Continuing Education Credits in order
to renew your certification. You can renew by local programming through our Continuing
Education Workshops or by attending our National and International Conferences.
Just attending the conferences or workshops will give you the 8 CEC's that you
need to review your certification. AAAI/ISMA reward you for continuing your fitness
education. Through these events you will be able to learn movement technique and
the newest fitness education from the best in the world. In additional to the
conferences, you can review your certifications by earning a new certification
and expanding your fitness credentials.
Simply send a photocopy of your expiring certification
and a $15.00 processing fee and the original of your CEC's, and we will renew
your certification within 5 weeks.
AAAI/ISMA has 26 Specialty Certifications and
2 Expert Certifications. The AAAI/ISMA Aerobic Expert and Fitness Expert Certifications
are the industry's elite certification credentials. These three hour exams are
both written and practical. We suggest that you have completed and passed three
of our specialty certifications or have a B.S. in the fitness field before taking
these exams. These exams are currently offered only at AAAI/ISMA Connections
or Conferences. The test questions have been formulated by the AAAI/ISMA's faculty
and industry leaders. The test questions are based on the material that you
would receive in a Master's Degree Program in Exercise Physiology.
